Our Story.
F.E.E.D. began in 1996 in the home of Jake and Esther Jordan, rooted in a simple but powerful belief: access to healthy, high-quality food should not depend on income.
What started as a small effort, sharing donated healthy food options, including organic and gluten-free items, with individuals in need, quickly grew through the support of friends, local organizations, and the surrounding community.
As word spread, F.E.E.D. gained the attention of larger partners, including Whole Foods Market, marking a turning point that significantly expanded both supply and reach. Even after the passing of her husband in 2007, Esther continued the mission alongside her children, guided by faith, resilience, and a deep commitment to serving others.
Today, F.E.E.D., under ABSYNA, Inc., serves more than 1,000 families across Maryland, including communities in Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, Howard County, and Baltimore County.
ABSYNA, Inc. is committed to providing an inclusive and equitable environment for all individuals. We do not discriminate in the delivery of services, employment practices, or partnerships on the basis of race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law. Our programs are open to all individuals in need, regardless of background or circumstance.
What We Do
Each week, we provide families with boxes of nutritious food, valued between $80 and $100, delivered directly to their homes. These deliveries include:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Bread, milk, eggs, and yogurt
- Meat and protein options
- Canned goods
- Bulk staples such as grains, seeds, and beans
In addition to supporting families, we also provide consistent food donations to shelters in Montgomery County and Washington, DC which serve between 360–400 individuals daily.
Our work is made possible through partnerships with organizations such as MOM’s Organic Market, Whole Foods Market, Halalco, Caribbean Crescent, and generous contributions from individual donors, where our story first began. Learn more about our partners and how you can partner with us here.

- Individuals experiencing homelessness
Our mission is to ensure that these communities have access not just to food, but to nutritious, high-quality food that supports long-term health and well-being.

We believe that addressing food insecurity requires more than temporary solutions. Our approach focuses on:
- Consistent, reliable food access through regular deliveries
- Nutritional quality, including organic and healthy food options
- Community-centered support, meeting people where they are
- Education and empowerment, including nutrition and healthy cooking guidance
By combining food access with education, we aim to create a lasting impact that extends beyond immediate need.
Our Goal
Our goal is to bridge the gap between proper nutrition and the economic barriers that prevent access to it.
We are committed to expanding our reach and continuing to serve families with dignity, consistency, and care, ensuring that every family has the opportunity to eat well and live well.
As demand continues to grow, ABSYNA is focused on expanding its capacity to serve more families while maintaining the quality and consistency that define the F.E.E.D. program.
